Front Bumper

Post  reymondos on Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:11 am

I have been sorting out the chromework for my Beach Car and noticed that the front bumper has been changed. Originally it came without over-rider ans was mounted with 8 large domed screws.

When I got it it had over-rider and only 5 fixing points.

Did any version of the Elf/Hornet come without over-riders?

How hard is it to find a "clean" front bumper.?

i believe the first mark 1 cars had no overriders - not too difficult to find a decent straight front bumper suitable for re-chroming ( i probably have one in the garage), though international postage might cost a bit

I will be coming over to the UK in a week or two.

Maybe I could buy one of yours, and take care of the shipping....

Where about are you?

If you are using a replacement 5 bolt bumper remember the early ones (which didn't have factory fitted over-riders) don't have the hole on the vertical face behind where the over-rider sits. It would probably be easy enough to weld up the hole and re-chrome the bumper. If you are doing this why not weld up the original 5 fixing holes and form the correct 8 holes?
