Some pictures of "Wilbur"

Post  MERLIN MIKE on Wed May 18, 2011 8:42 pm

Here are some more shots of "Wilbur" the Elf after we stared to dismantle him ( 3 year project before No.1 son can learn to drive!)
After the Nightmare of the boot floor it was nice to discover the front panel was reasonably sound & the front wings are recent additions
although the nearside wing is a non genuine one and is a bit out of shape as you might be able to see in the photo
The picture of the boot shows him with the replacement boot floor ( a bargain from MinIts ) held roughly in place with mole grips
and the boot floor extension piece from Gordon Furniss (catmint) which both appear to be a good fit, the shot also shows the bottle jack placed between the inner arch & the parcel shelf to jack the arches down into position & straighten the outer wings
as well as the holes that appeared on the seams below the back window, we have also removed are the outer ends of the heel board due to sheared off captive bolts /nuts /rust etc.
we are just waiting for a nice chap with a mig welder to arrive so we can start putting him back togther
if any one out there knows where i can get a rear displacer I could be in the market for at least 1 as although they where presurised wheh the car arrived one is serverly corroded at the end that locks into the subframe and is destined for the bin

He looks sound enough, boot floor/rear wing issues aside Smile

Can't see that taking you three years, although they're never really finished are they........? Wink

All the best with him.
