Window Winders

Post  Jared Mk3 on Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:21 pm

I've noticed on my car that the windows wind down very easily (gravity), but when it comes to winding the window closed i.e. up, the entire thing feels very stiff and takes a lot of effort to close. Could this be down to old grease in the mechanism? (Thus requiring a full clean up of the mechanisms). Or could it be the window channels inside the door that are giving trouble due to age? Or could it be a combination of both?

could well be any or all of those things - always worth cleaning and re-greasing the winder mechanism even though it's a bit of a hoo-hah to get it out of the door

It looks like a full dismantle and clean up is thus on the cards.
