WANTED - TAIL LIGHT BEZELS :

Post  David2010 on Sun Oct 21, 2012 8:01 pm

Greetings Captain61 from the Emerald Isle.
I'm not sure if you have come across any of the (fairly) recently published material decrying the " over restoration " of Classic Cars.
Some people have become quite exercised about "over restoration " .
I only mention this because (to some people) your description of your tail light bezels as shiny but pitted would make them very desireable .
Many Classic Car collectors both here in Ireland and next door in the U.K.are perfectly happy with " shiny but pitted " chrome work.
They refer to this finish on their bright work as the " patina". This effect is the result of some 30 or 40 or even 50 years or more in the
car's life-span. Its viewed by them as a valuable indicator of the car's true age and this in turn adds to the car's attractiveness/value.
Just thought I'd mention it.

David,
I DO understand your point. But the rest of the car is already done to probably what you would call, "over restoration" level. And I guess it would look a little funky to have pitted taillamp bezels as the only "patina". Had the rest of the car NOT been done to this level, I would agree with you....
But good advice nonetheless. Thanks!
