fresh air hose from front panel to heater 90mm Diameter

Post  elfsave on Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:53 pm

Hi, I am told this hose is not available from Mini spares/ sport. Mine is full of holes.
I have found some at merlinmotorsport.co.uk but at £25.73 a meter could end up at £60 before I'm finished with the postage.
Has anyone found a cheaper alternative? Another queery while I'm at it has anyone tried to fit a inline fan on this tube to help the flow as the demist is always a bit crap. They do one for £30, If I get a reasnable tube I don't mind paying for a fan If it would work. Thanks, Paul.

I've got hoses from a place in Florida, but that's not going to help you with the shipping cost. From experience, auto suppliers will always charge more for the same product than getting it from the source. Try looking at suppliers of general purpose ducting such as www.flexiducting.co.uk

I managed to pick up a full length piece from Bingley show a few years ago. Not quite the correct size though. I managed to remove a couple of inches of the metal coil to enable me stretch over the heater inlet and the inlet tube on the front grill. (it might have fitted inside these inlets but I'm not sure.
I did find some shorter pieces from a land rover specialist. I enquired if he sold in various other lengths and got a definate No!
Perhaps you could make some further enquiries from a Landrove agent where they are sourced from?
Tony

PS Just found this on ebay.

Here's a thought.............Kit car parts suppliers, not sure what diameter is needed without getting cold going into the shed, if they don't list the correct size it would be worth a phone call to ask Very Happy

CAR BUILDER SOLUTIONS http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/

There are plenty of others out the as well...........

To be honest Paul. I'm not sure. The one I got from Bingley was 85mm overall. The sample 450mm length I got from landrover was 95mm but it is so closely ribbed that it is nowhere as flexible as the Bingley hose.

If I get to Bingley in January and the the same stall holder is there with more stock I shall buy one as I am changing my van heater from recirculatory to fresh air type.

Might be worth asking CBS for a short sample so you can see if it's what you need?

Still looking

Post  elfsave on Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:17 pm

Thanks for the help everyone , I am still looking and have followed a couple of your leads, they either want to sell me 10m of the wrong colour or they don't have the right Diameter.
My next lead is a friend who is working with some airconditioning contractors, they might know somewhere. Thanks, Paul.

fresh air hose

The pipe on Morris Minors looks the same diameter and is longer than the Elf/Hornet ones. Think they sell them for about £30.00.
