Riley Elf mk2

Post  Dunc's on Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:48 pm

Has anybody got a rear bumper for a mk2? Mine is pitted and rusty.
Also my Elf was built in 1959/60 reg no 262 DWV, but on the log book it says it is 1964 surely i should have a prefix B or C.

Could be wrong, but the first Elfs were built in 61. It certainly wouldn't be that early if it's a MKII.

At the time of using prefix letters. Local Authorities were instructed to use as many of the existing registrations allocated to them before using the prefix letters.
Mine was registered in Taunton in 1964 and has the reg 510 XYD

Although the prefix was introduced in 1963 not all authorities used it until January 1965 "C" Reg, I suppose a time was given for them to comply. This info comes from a "Glass's Index of Suffix Marks" probably info somewhere on the net now. I have looked for your index letters in the books I have but can't find "DWV" as a reversed letter index at all, I'll do a bit more digging to see what comes up Very Happy

Sorry for the poor photy.
