replacing window channels

Post  john&gina on Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:09 pm

Good afternoon everyone, have any of you good people ever replaced the window channel on mk3 Elf/hornet ?
Looking at parts listings it looks as if it comes in one piece.
Would appreciate any advise.
John & Gina.

Yes, it does come in one piece and it is a bit fiddley to fit, it's best getting it lined up before squeezing it into place, there's too much resistance to adjust it easily once it's in. You do need to remove all the door furniture, interior door card, winder mech and door release lever and glass. Keep a kitchen roll to hand or you'll get the grease from the window winder mech everywhere. Worst bit for me was getting the window winder rollers back in the channel at the bottom of the glass, and then getting the glass to sit right. But if I can do it anyone can Smile

Ps. My mum used to live in Billericay, it's where I went to school!

Window channels

Thanks Pete, that's very helpful, sounds like a job for the winter. We have lived in Billericay for 36 years after moving from the east end
of London.
Our sons both went to Billericay school, it's a great place to live.
Hope to catch up with you someday at a car meet.
Regards John & Gina.
