25 Year Restoration!!

Post  Raggerty on Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:13 pm

Hi everyone. Very Happy
I inherited my Mk3 Elf 25yrs ago and used it as a second car whilst running around in a '74 1275GT.
Over 10yrs i fixed the sills, boot floor and subframe mounts before putting it in storage for 15yrs.
Time to get the old girl going again.
The front looks a bit sorry for it's self and the rear valence too but it's still solid in all the important places.
I'm going to hopefully keep this as a rolling restoration so will be a bit scruffy for a while.
Going to be fun driving a Mini for the first time in 15yrs,currently running around in a BNR32!!  Suspect
In the long term my goal is to keep it as original as possible but with Special Tuning stylee. Cool
1275cc engine i've got spare off a Riley Kestrel along with a 4 syncro remote box, twin SU's,Rosepetals etc.
Looks like i better get one of Catmints front panels to start off with.
That's it for now.

The catmints panle will be a good starting place. Looks like you might need one these as well: Rear valance on Ebay

Goodluck and keep us up to date on your progress.

I fitted my Rupert Fish rear valance on Monday, fits really well. It doesn't quite match up with the M-machine closure panels though, and not sure which is the correct shape. I've fabricated closure panels to suit.

Nice project you have there, good luck with it.

Welcome. Looks like a good project there - I like the idea of Rose Petals on these cars.

+1 on the rose petals. I want them as well but $$$ unless you go with Midland's wheels which I've read aren't to the same quality standard.
