Car covers

Post  elfsave on Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:40 pm

Has anyone bought a outdoor cover in the last few years and would recommend it.Does a mini saloon one from Mini Sport/spares or any dealer fit a Hornet or do you need to buy a van estate one. Thanks, Paul

I can tell you that a Mini Saloon "Monsoon" cover certainly does NOT fit as I have tried one here.

I dont know about a Mini Van or Mini Estate cover but I noticed one major prooblem was the Elf/Hornet rear "Wings" end in 'points' at the top where the rear lights are which will be weak spots on any cover unless reinforced - I used 2 scrap pieces of foam which seem to work quite well ?

Let us know if you try a Van/Estate cover.

Covercraft has a bunch of indoor/outdoor options and they have the pattern for the Elf/Hornet. This has come up before here, there should be a link to them with the pattern number if you do a search.

Car cover

I have an outdoor Carcoon for my elf shell at the moment. They are a bit pricey but great quality. If you need to use the car a lot it might not be ideal as it takes a bit of time to take down / put up. I needed to get the size up from the mini one as the Elf is a bit longer.
