Ryno has done an excellent job of digging out the car production numbers, so it would be a matter of figuring out which cars had the engines and then how many of each car were sold. That wouldn't give the total number of big bore 1098s made, only the number of cars that were equiped with them, but that's likely the only number one could come up with. If I get time, I'll see what I can come up with from his book.
I do know that a number of the cranks have found there way out of S.A.; especially, to England!

Hi all,

will try to take a few pix of my S.A. crank today.
Although I know it is not original to the Wolseley 1000 I am thinking of building a second engine for the car
with the S.A. crank and a MOWOG 8 port head I have.
Hopefuly the four Amals will fit better under the Wolseley bonnet than they do under a Mini bonnet.

Thank you for your interest so far!
One thing I can promise you right now is that after restoration I will visit GB with him.

Mmmmmmm... sounds an unbietable constellation. And as it is period, why not? Originality means parts correct for the era. If it is coupled with some style, its perfect.

Just doit!

Your tip about the "1000" boot badge likely being the same as one from a Morris Minor, is a good one! Nice find!
From photos I've found of that Minor badge it certainly does look the same. I don't have one around, but I've ordered one and will be able to compare, and hopefully confirm, when it arrives. Even Ryno wasn't aware of the similarity, but he has confirmed that it is quite possible.

Good night form Barcolna, Spain!!.

It´s curious car...,I didn´t know that Riley/Wolseley manufactured a Mini wirhout its tail...,but by the attached photos this model was manufactured only in South Africa, doesn´t it?.

Changing subjects...,welcome to this forum. In it we´ll all try to help in finding the pieces you need for restoring your interesting car.

Great luck!!.

Thanx "albertriley"
I realy apreciate your words !
It´s going to be a real intense investigation on what is correct with that type
as there are basicly no papers from the factory left.
I mainly depend on Chuck Heleker and Ryno Versters information.

I´ll try and make some pix when W1000 arrives at my place
to give you all an idea where he is going to be recovered.

Hi Chuck,
good to know that I could possibly bring some light to the mistery of the 10000 script Very Happy

......some more pix soon.........

If not for the record breaking, then come for the Mecsek Rallye. It will be an event of the European Historic Championship. We are expecting many fine historic racecars. Maybe.

Unfortunatly I cannot attend on the Slovenian Mini Meeting - the same reason as the Hungarian Rolling Eyes .

Here's a follow up on the "1000" badge as used on the Wolseley 1000 as well as the South African estates. The theory was that it was the same as the Morris Minor 1000 badge.

I finally received the Morris Minor badge I ordered some time ago and was able to compare it to the one on my W-1000 and my Mk II Countryman. The new reproduction is very close to the ones on the cars. When placed side-by-side there are very small differences that become obvious, but it's close enough that it would take a real Morris Minor fan to notice the differences without an original to compare to.

after all W1000 arrived today at my place Very Happy

already found out some interesting details, some of them are more than confusing....

- carpets everywhere, on door pockets rear an front.....
- quater vents are MK3 ??? (build date or the car circa 3_1968)
- no heater (think was quite common in those climates)
- very early master cylinders
- both front seats have very strange folding mechanism, one seems to have original seat cover

to be continued.........

nice dry and clean home cheers

Congratulations!

Keep the details coming!

- carpets everywhere, on door pockets rear an front.....

Not unexpected. Check the fuel tank, too.

- quater vents are MK3 ??? (build date or the car circa 3_1968)

The rear quarter windows? Could be. Right rear shot seems to show a Mk II-type tail light. Car could be the "MK II" vesion of the W-1000.

- no heater (think was quite common in those climates)

Yes. Not unusual at all

- very early master cylinders

Photo? Not sure what you mean by "very early".

- both front seats have very strange folding mechanism, one seems to have original seat cover

Do you mean the tilt mechanism? The seats shouldn't have any folding capabilities. Photos!

OK,

let´s rock & roll

here´s some carpet detail that "looks" quite original.........

here are the rear quater windows.........

there is no heater...........

this is what I understand as early masters........

that´s an odd mechanism.......

that´s what I "suppose" to be an original seat......
