Thanks for the photos.

Door pocket carpet and front pocket "kick" panel look original. Door straps look like a cheap conversion probably to relace a broken original one.

Rear quarter windows are Mk II (English) and would be correct for either "Mk I" or "II" W-1000. Seat belt is a later style. Original would have hung on a clip above where your's mounts. The original mounting spot has what looks like a home made replacement hanger. I remember the originals as being plastic and fragiile.

The switch panel has taken quite a beating!

The seats are definitely not original. No idea what they are out of.

SOUTH AFRICAN WOLSELEY

Post  whattie on Sat Jan 15, 2011 10:43 pm

I have also recently acquired a Wolesely Mini here in South Africa. I am not sure of the number yet but it is one of the 400 made in South Africa. The car has been stripped and garaged for a long period of time and the body is rust and dent free and still in brilliant condition. I have all the original parts with exception to the original engine which was transferred to another mini in 1983 but I have a few engines to choose from in my collection. I have a complete 1275 GTS motor, standard 1275, a 1071 cooper s, a few 1000's (Austin) and even a Morris 850. I am keen on putting the GTS motor into the Wolseley along with the disc brakes etc. The 1071 Cooper is complete with clocks, tanks, rear boot number plate, etc - just missing a good outer hinge body. Once I begin with the project I will post pics and keep an update on its progress.

Can't wait to see the progress, and welcome to the forum!

Welcome to our little but lively forum Peter. Look forward to seeing your photos when you have made at least 4 more posts.

Thank you. I was wondering why I couldn't post any photos. There are some photos of my car earlier in this thread in the Wolseley across America story, when Chuck initially brought it to the US.

Hi I have a Wolseley 1000 1966 that is in 100% original condition that I got from my grandfather after he passed away and I would like to know what is the value of the car.

Thanks

1966 is too early for the car to be a South African Wolseley 1000. Are you sure about the year? A photo or two might help.

Still too early. Not available until September 1967.

There are photos at the beginning of this thread.
