Cracking noise from passenger door area.
Ryan and me noticed a failry loud cracking noise coming from the passenger door area. Not sure at this point exactly where it is coming from, and it didn't seem to be when anythign particular occured - (ie it wasn't when you brake, or turn right or anything. Just occured a couple of times for no apparent reason.)
Will reposrt back if i can find out anythign else about it.

Re: Cracking noise from passenger door area.
I have the same problem with my Mini Cooper.
I can drive the car all day and it doesn't happen and the next day a loud clicking noise comes from around the door hinge area. I have taken the door off greased all the moving parts and checked the body work around the hinge area but all looks fine. If you manage to find the problem, please let me know.
If it's really bad, I put on a heavy rock CD and turn up the volume. It makes me feel better and seems to make the car go faster, or is that just my imagination?

Re: Cracking noise from passenger door area.
Could it be the screen expanding?
I had that problem in a MK1 Vauxhall Cavalier. It used to crack every morning almost at the same place,(just before a certain roundabout) every morning, (even my passenger remarked on that)
A flying stone chipped and shattered the screen and I never heard the crack after new screen fitted.
Just a thought, your screen could be just in wrong position or too tight?
Hope this helps.

Re: Cracking noise from passenger door area.
Thanks Tony.
The Windscreen scuttle has been replaced at some time and it has a laminated windsceen which has a few stone chips so really needs replacing. Another job on the "to do list" but worth checking out. I'm in no real hurry so a job for next year.
