What Other Classics Do We Own ?

Post  David2010 on Mon Sep 03, 2012 1:46 am

1963 Riley Elf Mk.1 (1275cc)
1965 Morris Cooper Mk.1 (998cc)
1975 BMW 2002 (1991cc)
2004 Hyundai 2 Litre Coupe - Wife's runabout (a Future Classic ?)
2005 Mazda RX8 - My runabout (undoubtably a Current & Future World Champion Love/Hate Object)

Also as my wife will be 64 in November & I am already 69 since June, I wish to lay claim to the oldest couple award = 133 years !

other oldie but goodie stuff
Kitamura T-12 VMC disassembled project

Nardini Lathe
Harvey surface grinder
Parma bandsaw
Pexto stomp shear
Pexto box pan brake
Roper Whitney bench notcher

lots more

other old stuff...
Kalamazoo KG-2A original, KG-2A some mods, KG-1 qty 2
Martin E-18, EM-18, EB-18, EM-28, EB-28 one each
Gibson SG and SG bass mid 1960s

Fender Strat MIM
Epi ES-335

getting-older-every-day stuff...
14 BMW K bike cylinder heads: another slowwww project

For the last 12 years I had my own little company, very flexible hours, and started piling up lots of projects. I had the opportunity to play errrrrrr work on my own projects when the phone wasn't ringing. Unfortunately those days seem to be gone, I recently had to go back to a "real" job and now I have very limited time for fun stuff.

asahartz wrote:As well as my Elf I have:

71 Clubman (hydrolastic)
72 Clubman Estate
74 1275GT
89 Mini Sky (daily)
91 Mini Neon (wife's daily)

The first three are all in project stages though the 71 is drivable though not MOTd. As you see each of my Minis is a fairly rare version.

Then the non-Minis:

79 Capri MkIII 1.3 (surprisingly rare, project)
84 VW T25 camper with Rover 3.5 V8 Twisted Evil Not exactly common either!

Some changes in the coupld of years since the original post.
The Capri has gone, it was my son's and he has moved next door where he is restoring a Mini pickup instead.
The Neon has gone to fund other projects (before it became a project itself!) In its place I bought a 79 Clubman estate for £50 (would have been rude not to!) There is also a 74 Beetle in storage in the garden for my prospective son-in-law.

The 71 Clubman restoration is completed and it's done a few shows. The Sky is now fitted with a 1275 Cooper motor.

Currently working on the 71 estate which is being done to my eldest daughter's spec (and, unusually, her funds too!) with a 1.8 MGF engine Twisted Evil

Found a photo

Post  SAMK3 on Sat Jan 25, 2014 1:30 am

This was my Mustang from 1989-2012. It started as a rusty mess with a banged up quarter. I was in middle school when we started and spent each summer until senior year of college working on the car. Then I drove the hell out of it and probably should've done some rust proofing because it began rotting away all over again. Still looked great and ran smoothly but I didn't want to tear it down and start over again. So I decided to pass it over to someone else. Then my brother in law put the Mini into my head and here I am.

What a stunning car there Mark, pity about the rust though. My brother would really like one like that for himself!

When my Mrs said we should get a bigger more practical car, as my only (working) cars are 72 mini and the Hornet, I suggested an 1100 (or 1300 even) Smile
