$35,000 USD for a convertible Elf?

Post  whitebuffalo on Fri Jan 07, 2011 9:00 pm

I was told about this car here in the US. It is a converted Elf to a convertible. They even say that it isn't a garage queen so it must have some issues. Take a look and see for yourself. It is a very hopeful price on their part , if it were a Heinz car and fully restored to perfect condition then maybe $35,000

Far Far too much!
It's only worth that much if there is someone daft enough to pay that. No one gets back what they pay into restoring any car unless of course there is a sucker around!

Tony's right. Far too much.

This is a nice conversion but even 100% mint you would expect anywhere between £7000 - £8500 absolute max I reckon.

If it were a genuine Heinz 57 (which it isn't) it could be worth around £20,000 (insurance value) if A1 condition, but with Heinz 57's they are worth what people want to pay for them.

I did have a good laugh when I saw the price. I would think that even if it were owned by one of the Beatles, then it wouldn't fetch that price. Not sure what they gauge their dream on, but perhaps they might sell it to a naive buyer, but I do hope not.

I've seen the car, inspected the car, photographed the car, reported on the car, and the US seller is fabricating lumps of the back-story...

Cheleker has a packet of photographs I took of it back in the late 90s, and it wasn't that special back then.
